A couple of weeks ago I got together with a couple of beautiful models who wanted to shoot some photos dressed as guys! Normally I’d shy away from something like that — really not my thing — but this one was a bit different!
Most of you who know me, know that I’m also a gamer. So to have the opportunity to shoot some cosplay in the form of characters from a video game, I jumped at the chance.
Camilla and Bona, the models who I shot with, are both beautiful women who love getting into costume. The two characters that they were playing, Kadaj and Yazoo, are from the popular Final Fantasy series of games (number 7 to be exact). Some may also recognize them more from the movie Final Fantasy Advent Children.
Both characters are male in the game and movie, but are very feminine in nature, so it was easy for the girls to portray them. Man we sure got a lot of looks walking around the university campus of SFU looking for locations to shoot! LOL
For the photography geeks, I used two flashes, an SB25 and SB600 bare at 45 degree angles camera left and right at full power triggered with GI wireless triggers. I was synching mostly at 1/500 with F stops of between 7.1 and 10 depending on location. Processed entirely in Adobe Lightroom to give it that sort of surreal and edgy look — more like a video game in fact.
You can find the entire set of photos on my Flickr photostream.
