Dark Curves

Last Saturday I was in the studio and worked with six different models over the course of 7 or 8 hours. It was exhausting, but I had a blast all at the same time. One thing I learned though is that no matter how much planning, makeup, lighting, etc. that you do as a photographer, some of your best shots come simply by experimenting and trying new things.

Athena (an incredible model with whom I’ve worked with on two other occasions) was waiting to get her makeup done and I was waiting for one of the other models to come out of makeup. Being the great sport that she is, we went to the loading dock where I had a couple of my ghetto fluorescent strip lights set up and we just played around with some lighting silhouettes and other creative things, trying not to show her face (since she had no makeup on yet). What resulted was one of my favorite photos of the entire day. Who’da thunk! ;)
